As you all know, my favorite season is autumn. One of my favorite things about fall is the amazing smells that come with it! I’ve decided to share a couple DIY home scents that I enjoy making especially during the fall season.
Crock Pot: Cinnamon/Apple Scent
One of the ways to make a DIY home scent recipe is by using a crock pot. Crock pots are made to sit out for a long time and it fills the room with the smell of what it is cooking. All you need is about 6-8 apples (chopped, cored (as seen above), and peeled. Fill the crock pot with water, and add in the apples. Following this just add 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and a little bit of lemon juice (I love using lemon juice with everything!). This can sit all day and the best thing is when you’re done for the day, you can use the apples for apple sauce. Definitely a favorite scent.
Stove: Fresh Woodsy Scent
This scent is a little bit different because you are putting a pot on the stove and letting it cook that way. It is a tiny bit more inconvenient as you will need to add water every now and then, but it spreads the scent a lot more than a crock pot would. All you need is a few pine branches, trimmed to fit in your pot. Fill your pot with water, and add the branches. Add in 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, and 1/2 tsp of ground cloves. Let it simmer until you’re done with it!
These are just a few of the scents that I make during the holidays. Enjoy!
